Who Qualifies for the iMOVE Scholarship?

The iMOVE College Moving Scholarship is a cash scholarship for students who are moving to out-of-state schools. Applicants must be incoming freshmen, returning students, or transfer students who are currently enrolled at the school they are describing in the scholarship form. The school must be in a separate state from the student's primary residence.

The 2016 iMOVE Scholarship Topic

For this scholarship round, we want to know where you would move to if there was an zombie apocalypse?

Would you play it safe and hide away alone in the mountains? Would you try to build a commune of survivors? Or would you be on the front lines fighting the zombies?

Answers will be judged on creativity and clarity – you only have 500 words to answer each question, so make them count!

Terms and Conditions

Applicant Eligibility

Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States. Employees of, its parents, affiliates and subsidiaries, participating advertising and promotion agencies, and prize suppliers (and members of their immediate family and/or those living in the same household of each such employee) are not eligible.

Incoming freshman

Applicant must be a current student and have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale and must have taken either the ACT or SAT test. Applicant must also be a high school or home school senior graduating or earning a GED between August 1, 2015 and July 31, 2016 and will be attending an accredited college or university by Fall semester 2016.

Current freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students

Applicant must have a cumulative college grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale, and be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university between August 1, 2015 and July 31, 2016 and must be attending an accredited college or university by Fall semester 2016.

Applicant Requirements

Applicant must be moving to an out-of-state school requiring moving expenses. For example, the following qualify: incoming freshman; students returning to school from home, an internship, summer job; or a transfer student to a school in another state.

Description of Funds

Three winners will be selected, to receive prizes to apply to moving expenses for the 2016-2017 academic year. Grand prize will receive $800.00. Second prize will receive $500.00. Third prize will receive $300.00. Three Honorable Mention entries will be chosen and featured on the website, but will not receive monetary prizes. Funds are provided by Payments are issued by, made payable to the student and mailed after January 6, 2017 directly to the best mailing address last designated by the student.

Winner Selection and Announcements

The winner is selected after a team of judges reviews all entries, after the deadline of November 17, 2016. Applicants are judged on creativity, thoughtfulness, and insight. The winners will be announced December 16, 2016.

Conditions of Award

If any other funds pay entirely the tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board for the student's 2016-2017 academic year, the student is no longer eligible to receive this scholarship and will forfeit the award.

College/University Approval

The institution must be accredited and listed on the official website of the U.S. Department of Education. Applicants attending military academies are ineligible for this scholarship. All school transfers are subject to accreditation approval.

Responsibilities of Recipients

The recipient must be actively enrolled full-time as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in Fall 2016 and for the entire academic year without interruption, barring illness, emergency, or military service. It is the recipient's responsibility to verify receipt of funds and to contact should the award check not arrive on or about 30 days from the issue date.

Permissions reserves the right to alter or discontinue this program at any time without notice. All essay submissions and photographs become the property of and may be reposted or displayed online, in whole or part, without notification. shall be entitled to use, alter, or delete submissions for any purpose whatsoever without compensation to applicants.

  3. Persons must be at least 18 years old, or otherwise have reached the age of majority under the laws of the state where you reside, in order to participate.
  4. Only residents of the United States are eligible to participate.
  6. There is NO ENTRY FEE AND NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER THIS COMPETITION. Any purchase or consideration otherwise given by entrants will not improve one's chances of winning.

  9. Odds of winning are based on the total number of entrants. Only three winners will be selected from the entire pool of eligible entries.
