Planning your big move to the Big D? Well, the time is now ripe, budget-wise. With an average rent of just $1,073 a month – well below last month’s national average of $1,170 – Dallas offers a fairly affordable, renter-friendly city from the get-go.

Throw in its lively dining and entertainment scene, strong job market, and average year-over-year rental growth rate (which comes in at just over 6 percent), and you’ve got a place just ready for the picking. (Meanwhile, cities like Portland, San Francisco, and Sacramento are seeing gains of over 10 percent!)

As an added bonus, $1,073 per month may be the average in Dallas, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find nice rental properties well below that point, too. In fact, we’ve scoured our listings for rental bargains, and we’ve found quite a few properties that offer you a lot of bang for much less buck.

Let’s take a look at a few of these affordable Dallas apartments coming in at less than $800/mo. available for lease right now:

1. Miramar Apartments, Lake Highlands, 1 BR, 500 sq. ft. – $533

At less than half the city’s average rent, you can snag a one-bedroom, one-bath unit in this beautifully landscaped property in Lake Highlands.
